How We Select Tools and Services
We ignore press releases. We ignore cold emails from software vendors. We select tools based on the actual operational friction we experience in our own agency. If a new review management platform claims to filter out spam better than the current standard, we test it.
We look for software that solves specific GBP optimization problems. NAP consistency auditing. GeoGrid rank tracking. Automated Q&A seeding. If a tool does not address a direct ranking factor, it does not make our list.
We only test software that local business owners and agency operators can actually buy. We skip enterprise-only platforms that hide their pricing behind mandatory sales calls.
Our Strict Evaluation Criteria
We evaluate local SEO tools on three strict metrics. Accuracy, speed, and API reliability. Take GeoGrid trackers as an example. We run the tool against manual incognito searches across a 5-mile radius. We check the nodes. We verify the actual ranking positions against the software’s claims.
For citation builders, we measure indexation rates. Getting a business listed on 50 directories means nothing if Google ignores 48 of them. We track exactly how many citations actually index within 14 days.
When testing reputation management software, we measure the exact impact on review velocity. We look at the SMS delivery rates. We check the friction of the user experience for the end customer leaving the review. If a tool makes it hard for a customer to click five stars, we fail it.
The 90-Day Time Investment
SEO requires patience. Software testing requires the exact same discipline.
We dedicate a minimum of 90 days to any local SEO tool before publishing a review. We spend the first thirty days integrating it into a test GBP campaign. We use the next thirty days to gather baseline data. We spend the final thirty days measuring the delta.
You can’t judge a local rank tracker in a weekend.
